ICARDA has a rich research history on innovation in agronomy, soil science, nutrient and water management demonstrated across irrigated and rainfed production systems where crop and livestock production are now at a sustainable level.
Against that backdrop, we aim to accelerate the identification, development, and application of soil, nutrient, and agronomic innovations for crop and livestock production. In doing so, ICARDA contributes to improved land and water productivity, enhances resilience, and strengthens adaptation to climate change, extreme weather, drought, and disasters while progressively improving land, water, and soil quality.
To better understand trends and facilitate the identification of system management options to be used in the integrated regional projects, ICARDA integrates big data and complex modeling of crop protection and management, focusing on soil and water. We also integrate farm mechanization, digital agriculture, sensor revolution, AI, and other disciplines and always include insights from the farmers themselves
