IYRP 2026 NENA Regional Conference
Building a Shared Vision for Sustainable Rangelands and Pastoral Communities in the Near East and North Africa (NENA)
The IYRP 2026 NENA Regional Conference will take place from 26–28 January 2026 at the Diar Lemdina Hotel, Hammamet, Tunisia.
The conference will mark the official launch of the International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists 2026 (IYRP2026) in the Near East and North Africa region. It is co-organized under the framework of the IYRP NENA Consortium, bringing together key regional and international partners, including ICARDA, FAO, ILC, IUCN, OSS, League of Arab States, CEDARE, and AOAD, in collaboration with Tunisia’s General Directorate of Forests.
The conference will convene policymakers, researchers, practitioners, and pastoral representatives to strengthen regional and international collaboration on sustainable rangeland management. Discussions will focus on rangeland governance, climate change and biodiversity, pastoral livelihoods and rights, gender and youth empowerment, and emerging research, innovation, and good practices across the NENA region.
