With a particular focus on the role of women and marginalized groups in technology co-design vis-à-vis Germany's nascent Feminist Foreign Policy, the event will present the lessons learned from the AI-Driven Climate-Smart Beekeeping (AID-CSB)'s 2021 implementation and host a panel discussion on potential areas for improvement, collective engagement, and cooperation among governments, UN bodies, civil society, and the private sector to scale human rights-based technology co-design.

Funded by the German Federal Foreign Office and in close collaboration between project partners ICARDA, HiveTracks, and icipe, the AID-CSB project works to bridge the digital gender divide by using a human rights-based approach to the development of The Beekeeper's Companion - an app for beekeepers. Working with women beekeepers across Ethiopia and Uzbekistan, the project's gender-responsive approach addresses barriers to meaningful participation. It empowers women to increase their livelihoods in a planet-positive economic activity.
