Led by Mr. Aly Abousabaa, the 'fishbowl' style event begins with experts kick-starting conversations on themes surrounding climate change and food systems in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region at the first-ever MENA Climate Week on March 30, 2022.

Speakers and audience are invited from national agriculture research centers, farmers associations, public and private sector, civil society, and donors to present and discuss the viability of 'new science' innovation that breaks from business-as-usual approaches to address today's complex challenges.

During this 'fishbowl' event, the audience will be invited to swap chairs with speakers to inhabit the 'inner virtual circle' and offer their expertise and informed opinions.

Themes will include regional collaboration and knowledge sharing, water productivity, improved crops, integrated innovations, pillar industries, private-public partnerships, conserving and nurturing biodiversity and environmental health, women, and youth, and market access.

ABOUT MENA CLIMATE WEEK

The first MENA Climate Week is set to take place in Dubai, UAE, from 28 to March 31, 2022.

The conference will build on the accomplishments of COP26 by examining climate risk resilience, the transition to a low-emission economy, and collaboration to address critical issues. MENACW 2022 will also boost cooperation and incorporate climate action with pandemic recovery worldwide. This provides a chance for regional stakeholders to address socioeconomic inequities and engage in human and environmental-friendly economic growth.
