Regional Workshop on Advancing Gender Equality and Social Inclusion in Food, Land, and Water Systems in MENA
The MENA region faces interconnected challenges including water scarcity, climate stress, food insecurity, and conflict, all of which exacerbate existing gender and social inequalities. Despite women’s critical contributions to agriculture, barriers continue to limit their access to resources, technologies, and decision-making opportunities.
From 19 to 20 November 2025, the CGIAR Gender Equality and Inclusion Accelerator will convene a regional workshop in Cairo, Egypt, under the theme “Advancing Gender Equality and Social Inclusion in Food, Land, and Water Systems in MENA: Generating Evidence to Inform Policy and Development Practice.”
The workshop will bring together researchers, practitioners, and policymakers to co-design a unified Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) Research for Development Learning Agenda for the MENA region, providing a roadmap to guide future investments, evidence generation, and policy impact.
