ICARDA at the XIX World Water Congress
The XIX World Water Congress, co-organized by the International Water Resources Association (IWRA) and the Ministry of Equipment and Water of the Kingdom of Morocco, will take place from December 1–5, 2025, in Marrakech, under the theme: Water in a Changing World: Innovation and Adaptation.
This prestigious global event will convene leading experts, researchers, policymakers, practitioners, civil society, and private sector representatives to explore innovative solutions and adaptive strategies to advance Sustainable Development Goal 6 and strengthen cross-sector collaboration toward a water-secure future.
ICARDA’s Dr. Vinay Nangia, Research Team Lead for Soil, Water, and Agronomy, will speak at the session “Unlocking New Water Frontiers: Exploring Opportunities and Risks of Alternative Sources for Agriculture and Urban Use,” on December 4, from 4:15 to 5:45 PM. His presentation, “Balancing Act: Strategies to Bridge Agricultural Water Demand and Supply Gap in Drylands,” will showcase innovative strategies for improving water efficiency in dryland farming systems.
Dr. Vinay will also moderate the session “Towards Innovation and a Smart Water Future: Desalination, Wastewater Reuse and Recycling Technologies and Methodologies” on December 4, from 8:30–10:00 AM.
Dr. Charles Kleinermann will take part in the session “Defining Best Practices in the Water–Food–Energy–Ecosystems (WEFE) Nexus: Lessons from the Mediterranean” on December 4, from 4:15–5:45 PM.
