FAST Partnership Members Meeting
The Food and Agriculture for Sustainable Transformation (FAST) initiative, hosted by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO), is a partnership that aims to transform agriculture and food systems by 2030, focusing on people, climate, and nature. It seeks to improve climate finance contributions, support adaptation efforts, and maintain a 1.5-degree pathway while ensuring food and economic security.
Aly Abousabaa, ICARDA’s Director General and CGIAR’s Regional Director for the CWANA region, will represent CGIAR at the FAST partnership members meeting in Rome where the FAST board and task force as well as a working plan will be presented.
The initiative's three pillars include access to finance, knowledge and capacity development, and policy support and dialogue to prioritize agrifood systems in climate change policies. The initiative was initiated by the COP27 Presidency in Sharm El Sheikh in 2022.
Thanks to the contribution of the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture of Germany (BMEL), the FAST Partnership is now in its inception phase, and it will host its first FAST Partnership Members meeting.
