FAO Global Conference on Sustainable Livestock Transformation

The second Global Conference on Sustainable Livestock Transformation will take place in Rome from 29 September to 1 October 2025. The event will bring together FAO Members, policymakers, farmers, private companies and industry associations, civil society representatives, NGOs, researchers, and development agencies to share experiences and showcase actionable solutions for the sustainable transformation of the livestock sector. It aims to foster change, scale innovations, and drive practical solutions.
On 1 October, Mounir Louhaichi, Research Team Leader of Rangeland Ecology and Forages at ICARDA, will participate in “Session 10: Delivering solutions for natural resource management, climate change and biodiversity”. He will discuss the major challenges facing rangeland and grassland ecosystems under pressure from climate change, biodiversity loss, and unsustainable land use, and highlight livestock management practices that have proven most effective in conserving these fragile environments.
