
Joren Verbist is a Technology Systematization Officer with the ICARDA MEL team, based in the Netherlands. He works at the intersection of economics, Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E), and Sustainable Land Management (SLM). He focuses on innovation management, documenting ICARDA innovations, and assessing their Scaling Readiness to enhance sustainable development. In collaboration with the World Overview of Conservation Approaches and Technologies, he also delivers capacity-building training on land degradation and SLM and develops frameworks for scaling SLM in Saudi Arabia. His work also included designing and implementing a Decision Support Tool (DST) for integrated WEFE policy-making in land management in Uzbekistan. Joren holds two Master’s degrees from Wageningen University in International Land and Water Management and Economics, Management, and Consumer Studies. His work integrates land management, stakeholder engagement, economics, and sustainability, dedicated to revitalizing degraded drylands. He speaks Dutch and English.
