Mohie El Din Omar
Dr. Mohie Omar is a water resources scientist with over 15 years of experience. He holds a Doctor of Engineering in Irrigation and Hydraulics from Technische Universitaet Berlin and a Master of Science in Water Resources Management from Lüneburg University in Germany. He also holds a Diploma in Water Resources and Hydrology and a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering from Ain Shams University in Egypt. Currently, he is a Research Associate at the International Center for Agricultural Research in Dry Areas (ICARDA). Previously, he occupied a number of positions as a Associate Professor at the National Water Research Center in Egypt, Researcher at the Leibniz Centre for Agricultural Landscape Research in Germany, University Lecturer at Faculty of African Graduate Studies at Cairo University, Modern University for Technology and Information in Egypt, and Technische Universitaet Berlin, Task Force Expert at UNESCO - IHP, Project Manager at GIZ, and Consultant at UNESCO-IHE, the National Water Resources Plan for Egypt Project, the Planning Sector of the Egyptian Ministry of Water Resources & Irrigation. He has 27 publications contributing in advancing the water resources planning, agricultural water management, and eco-hydrology in Egypt. His mother language is Arabic, and he is fluent in English and German.
