Meseret Tsige Abebe
Post-Doctoral Fellow in Gender Research
Dr. Meseret, an Ethiopian National, holds a Ph.D. in Environment and Development Studies from the Department of International Environment and Development Studies (Noragric), Norwegian University of Life Sciences, Norway. She has many years of experience as a lecturer and an assistant professor at Hawassa University, Ethiopia.
Her research emphasis is investigating the gendered effects of agricultural development, focusing on the sociology of rural development in general and investigating the links between gender, climate, agriculture, rural livelihoods, and policies. She has published on the gendered constraints that limit women smallholders' use of agricultural technologies, unequal gendered control over production outcomes and the practicality of gender mainstreaming policies in agricultural development.
Dr. Meseret joined ICARDA’s Social, Economics and Policy Research (SEP) Team in September 2022 as a Post-doctoral Fellow – Gender Research.
