Majd Jamal
Dr. Majd Jamal joined ICARDA in 2009, and since 2018 has served as the head of government liaison. Jamal also has broad expertise in integrated pest management. He is a member and former president of the Advisory Council of the Arab Society for Plant Protection, and a former director general of the General Commission for Scientific Agricultural Research (GCSAR), Syria.
Dr. Jamal spent most of his career as a faculty member and administrator at the Department of Plant Protection within the College of Agriculture at Damascus University in Syria. He supervised and mentored graduate students seeking their masters and doctoral degrees for 36 years. Dr. Jamal holds a Ph.D. in Entomology from the University of Georgia.
